China
During my visits to Jingdezhen, Sanbao, Zhengrutan, and Wuhan spanning over 16 years, I have immersed myself in the local ceramic scene, collaborating with manufacturers and painters. In 2014 I have been teaching a semester at WIT and lecturing at various institutions. The evolution of Jingdezhen was very evident during my recent trip in January 2024, with Taoxichuan evolving from a porcelain factory area into a dynamic space housing a museum, artist residency, shops, and a hotel. This transformation, overseen by architect David Chipperfield, showcases a harmonious blend of historical and modern architectural styles. My activities in the ceramic world in this region include creating large vessels, producing Flower bowls, working on eggshell bowls, and organizing educational tours for students and teachers, reflecting my deep-rooted connection to the area's rich cultural heritage.
