Organ Harvest

The object from the Organ Harvest series was created during my first visit to China in Jingdezhen in 2008 and completed in 2020 in Weitra. It was intended to represent a peaceful interpretation of the cruel reality of organ trafficking - the imagined picking of necessary organs like fruits from a tree. I used traditional Chinese child representations and placed them in a different context.

Jingdezhen porcelain, with a classic deep dark Chinese glaze inside - Sang de Boeuf - ox blood red; painted on the outside with enamel colors and polished silver. Created in Jingdezhen. Porcelain wheel thrown, Japanese silver polishing technique. 51 cm high, 38 cm diameter. Years of creation 2008-2020.
