Pharmacia
In 1996, I created a collection of 12 Alborelli named "12 medicines to heal the soul" or alternatively titled “Pharmacia Borodin”, inspired by a meeting with Alexander and Ann Shulgin in Palenque, Mexico in January 1996; by the use of plant-based medicines in indigenous rituals and as described by Aldous Huxley in his books „Island“ and “Doors of Perception”.
The opioid crisis in the United States unveils the opposite aspect of the issue. "Mother’s Little Helpers" illustrates the excessive use of pharmaceuticals since around 1950. The enduring impact of the Sackler family's conduct on the American society by triggering the opioid crisis remains unresolved.
