Shades of White + Super Pastels
I love the textile design of Rei Kawakubo as of Issey Miyake. Japanese design for me is the ultimate expression of sensibility and aesthetics. Both used a lot the color black and famous is Rei’s quote: “I work in three shades of black”. This inspired me to work in several shades of white and I made a whole series of blossom bowls with hardly distinguishable shades of white and a series of super pastels. Unfortunately they proved to be a business failure in contrast to my brightly colored blossom bowls which are the best sellers.
