Plates + Trays
In the Nineties, I crafted an assortment of plates and trays for various dishes, desserts, and serving purposes, utilizing a range of textures and glazes. Limiting my color palette to four distinct glazes – Temmoku, Rust red, Seto Yellow, and a Seladon color – I drew inspiration from Japanese table culture. This culture, in stark contrast to Western practices, involves the arrangement of diverse pieces, from delicate porcelain to rough-hewn plates of dark stoneware, all harmoniously composed based on seasonal cues.
