Ceramic Topographies

is an ongoing series of lidded vessels inspired by a concept also to be known as 'Ore & Flora' or 'Treasure Boxes'. Envisioned as a collection of 12 vessels, each piece represents a different country and its abundant resources - including minerals, ores, and plants significant to the indigenous communities of those regions.

For the vessel representing Bolivia, I incorporate iron, tin, and silver alongside the leaves of the coca plant. In the case of the vessel inspired by the Congo, I utilize cobalt, copper, silver, gold, and manganese to encapsulate the essence of the region. The most recent one finished is about Colombia - nickel, gold & silver the minerals, banisteriopsis capii & psychotria viridis, yage & chacruna, the two main ingredients of Ayahuasca are pictured there as well as a kolibri lid, a replique from the Gold Museum in Bogota.
